When you finally get into the swing of knowing exactly what is and what is not vegan, you feel confident. You feel confident in your diet and you feel confident when you go out to eat because you know the right questions to ask your waitress/waiter. Alcohol is a completely different story.
Here's the kicker - breweries and distilleries are completely ambiguous when it comes to identifying their ingredients. Do you think that waitress is going to like serving you if you ask her what's in every kind of beer they carry? Probably not. Since searching around for vegan beers and spirits is a complete pain in the ass, we've came up with a list for you! By no means is this a complete and comprehensive list of vegan alcohol and we encourage you to do your own research as well.
For a more comprehensive list, refer to PETA's list here.

This needs to be said.
We all have that one vegan friend that likes to make their friends and acquaintances feel guilty for eating meat. We love that they are passionate! What we don't love is the guilt trip. There are also those passive aggressive vegans that tend to make subtle comments about how cows suffer for your In n' Out burger and the cheese that goes on top. This is 100% the WORST way to try to get someone to go vegan. Trying to guilt someone into going vegan is like trying to guilt your ex boyfriend/girlfriend into getting back together with you. It's unhealthy, it's emotionally manipulative and NO ONE WINS! Yes, this opinion is unpopular, but you're going to catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar, sweetheart. You have to kill people with kindness and love and compassion. As a vegan, it should be your mission to build others up with your compassionate attitudes. You don't win if you try to tear others and their eating habits down. You should show people how kind and compassionate you are so that other people will look up to you and do the same. |
